TOPVOICES WITH JOSE LUIS REBOLLO, HEAD OF LOGISTICS AT HAFESA

30 de July de 2025 3 minutes reading.

In the hydrocarbon logistics sector, flexibility isn’t just a competitive advantage, it’s a distinctive skill that determines a company’s ability to succeed and sustain itself in the market. Effective management means responding in real-time to a wide range of scenarios, from shifting customer demands to the complexities of coordinating different plants and product types. To delve deeper into these and other key topics, we spoke to our Head of Logistics, José Luis Rebollo, in a new segment called #TopVoices.

This conversation provides deeper insight into the core of Hafesa Logistics: a proactive vision, focused on efficiency, sustainability, and continual adaptability, facing significant challenges such as the shortage of professional drivers and the necessity of implementing sustainable strategies.

1.How do you manage the complexity of negotiating with various plants and clients? What types of clients does Hafesa Logistics serve?

In the logistics sector, effective management requires flexibility combined with control. At Hafesa Logistics, we particularly stand out for our rapid adaptability while maintaining rigorous oversight of every operation.

We serve a diverse range of clients, both internal (Grupo Hafesa) and external. Most of these are service stations, operators, and some factories that require reliable and efficient logistics services. Beyond traditional fuels, we handle products such as biodiesel and raw materials for biofuel production. In fact, we work closely with factories specialising in biofuels, coordinating the transport of these products to various storage facilities.

One of our key differentiators is the personalised and attentive service we provide. Our clients especially appreciate our availability, problem-solving capabilities, and consistent commitment to quality and precision in each logistical operation.

2.What are the primary logistical risks you foresee for 2025–2026, and what strategies do you have in place to mitigate them?

One of the biggest logistical challenges in the coming years will be the shortage of professional drivers. This role, vital for our sector, demands long hours away from home, specialised experience, and significant upfront investment in training and licenses.

At Hafesa, we’re fully aware of this issue and are proactively addressing it by offering attractive working conditions tailored to current industry needs, ensuring transparency and legal compliance at all times.

3.Hafesa currently operates a fleet of approximately 22 trucks. Do you have plans to scale up your fleet soon?

Indeed, with the opening of our new logistics centre in Ocaña, we anticipate significantly expanding our fleet. To achieve our objectives in this area, where we expect to manage around 10,000 cubic metres, we estimate that we’ll need to add roughly 10 additional trucks once the centre is fully operational. This expansion also means increasing our team of drivers. We’re actively preparing for this growth and are embracing the challenge with great enthusiasm and responsibility.

4.Are you implementing sustainable logistical practices to reduce the carbon footprint of road transport?

Yes, at Hafesa Logistics, we collaborate closely with our sustainability department to actively measure and reduce our carbon footprint. Recently, we achieved the “Calculo” certification from Spain’s Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO). This certification verifies that we’ve rigorously and transparently calculated greenhouse gas emissions from our activities in 2023, reaffirming our commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility.
